Our Story
It was a time in owner Sandy Friedman's life when she knew she would have to leave the kitchen and support her family on her own. It was also then that she realized two things, one, the work she did at home, balancing checkbooks, scheduling, organizing, could all be translated into business skills, and two, her daughter had been a ballerina, at that time, for eight years, would soon need new pointe shoes, and there was nowhere in the Valley to get her dance supplies.
That's when she wrote a letter to Ballet Makers to see if they'd be interested in working with her to set up a shop in the Valley, and much to her surprise, they said yes. In the beginning, she worked practically for free, visiting studios, passing out business cards, doing whatever she could to get her new business off the ground. She partnered with Capezio (Ballet Makers) for 12 years until finally setting out on her own, allowing the store the freedom to carry product from various manufacturers and provide for all the local studio needs, while still remaining true to being a small family owned business.
"Don't sell yourself short. If you have a dream and want to do something, but think you can't because you don't have enough experience-- well that's baloney. You make your experience. If I can do it, anyone can." -Sandy Friedman, owner
